Regarding Vapor:
The “gateway effect” is a logical fallacy. It is inherently contradictory to claim on one hand, vapor is so attractive that it poses a risk for nicotine addiction for those who would otherwise not smoke cigarettes, and then on the other, claim those same people would then move on to cigarettes.
Vapor products have been available in the U.S. market for nearly a decade and enjoyed considerable growth; if vaping indeed served as a gateway to smoking, the necessary corollary would be an increase in smoking; the exact opposite is true. year over year, smoking rates have decreased, indicating vaping is a gateway away from smoking, not towards it.
